Works of shadow
"Shadows" invites viewers to pause and appreciate the poetry of the everyday interplay of sun and shadow on a late summer’s day or an early spring day. The elongated shadows cast by the low sun paint a play of depth and layers on the ground within our field of vision. In our daily lives, we often move through the landscape unconsciously, without noticing the subtle beauty of these shadows. With bold colors, I bring the shadows to life, shifting them from the background to the foreground. In my brushstrokes, I capture the melancholy of the passing summer, where the sun still grants us these long shadows. In a series of paintings, I bring the shadows of tree leaves to life. My work is contemporary figurative, influenced by Fauvism, where color and form enhance the atmosphere.
